Questionnaire for our main task

This is a questionnaire for our main task, it consists of relevant questions relating to our main task.
This was helpful feed back. To do this questionnaire we had to go down to the common room and pick a variety of people to interview them for our questionnaire. Above is our completed questionnaire of our feed back. Its significant that we did this questionnaire because the filming production do this before releasing their films. They do this to gain feedback of what their target audience like and want. Doing this is good because it encourages and tempts the film productions audience to come and watch their film, which means the film produces lots of views and generates a cash flow of money.

Health and safety analysis

This is our Health and safety analysis of the locations we will be visiting to shoot our film. Its important to do this because we need a risk assessment of what happens just to make sure hazards are known and we then know how we can avoid it and stay safe.

All Film productions must have a risk assessment transcript and also follow health and safety regulations which is legit.

The locations we visit are; Megan's shed, Asda car park and a side road near the airport.

To get to these locations one of our team member will drive us there.

Health and safety policy for film/production companies

Above is the HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY FOR FILM PRODUCTION COMPANIES, film companies must follow this in order to produce their films.

Permission slip completed

In order to go out and film using the school cameras, this permission slip has been enforced for us to get signed. It makes sure the cameras are covered by us if we lose or damage them we would have to replace them or our parents. This was essential to be signed otherwise we would not be entitled to use the film cameras.

Filming & permission slip

So today will be our first day of filming in our double period. Yesturday we discussed whatever would all be wearing for the shoot; black trousers, trainers, a jacket and a Bernie hat. We also have to bring our permission slips back.

Main task name

We have decided to call our main task film; clutch, brake, accelerate
We related our film to fast and furious because we all liked the films that they have produced and found it interesting so we decided to challenge ourselves to try and make a similar opening.

Story board

The first camera angle in this in box one we put as a low angle shot showing the drivers of the cars, the cars and megan. The second box was a side view eye level angle. The third box is a two shot of Mitch and I. The Fourth box is Mitch getting out of his car, a wide angle shot was used. The Fifth box is Mitch and I, with a over the shoulder/point of view angle.

Storyboard

Storyboard

This is our story board

In the first box it shows Mitch and I side to side tied up and beat up in a chair. This has a range of angles, a Two shot, a high angle shot, a wide shot and a low angle shot. The second shot is of Mitch, this is a mid shot. The third box is a two shot of Mitch and I. The Fourth shot is another mid shot of Mitch. The Fifth box shows Mitch or my foot step out of the car, representing one of us getting out the car. The Sixth box is a shot of Mitch driving and me beside him driving away, this is when the credits come in.

Above is our finished storyboard of what our clip will contain. This was also essential to be completed so that we would have a plan of what would happen in our main task.

Story board

This is our storyboard template that must be filled out in order to shoot our main task.

We have a letter from our teacher that we have to sign indicating the agreements we have to keep, we have to take it home and get it signed by our parent/guardians.

Time organisation for main task

Organising times for film shooting worked out to be very hard, these are possible dates.

We did this to identify and plant out what days we could all meet together to do some film shooting. Sticking to this schedule was crucial if we wanted to successfully complete our filming.

I can honestly say that this was a good idea but we did not end up sticking to it because we did not need to meet in all those times, we went out probably about 3 times so the rest of the dates were reserves just in case we needed to go back out to film missing bits.

Our finished continuity task/editing completed

THis is our finished continuity task which we are soon going to be importing on to our blogs.

Garage band audio

Audio made on garage band

We introduced our fading in and fading out

We added this to start our clip and do end our clip. This was useful because it indicated the ending and starting to the clip

Setting a back ground

We decided to choose and normal standard black background for our text to overlay on top

Font entrance for continuity task

Choosing our entrance for the continuity was important because we wanted it to correlate in to the clip we made. We decided to choose the sideways drift.

Monday 20 January 2014

At this present moment in time we are moving on to our main task. The Group are currently finishing the storyboard, scripts, prop list.
We have now sucessfully completed our continuity task which has been edited, we have included a fade to black, a fade to white, a white wash, fading in and out of the audio, title, background and text fonts.

Monday 13 January 2014

In our media continuity task clip an important feature of it was to enforce the 180 degree rule.

This schematic shows the axis between two characters and the 180° arc on which cameras may be positioned (green). When cutting from the green arc to the red arc, the characters switch places on the screen.

Types of sound

SOUND BRIDGES
Sound bridges can lead in or out of a scene. They can occur at the beginning of one scene when the sound from the previous scene carries over briefly before the sound from the new scene begins. Alternatively, they can occur at the end of a scene, when the sound from the next scene is heard before the image appears on the screen. Sound bridges are one of the most common transitions in the continuity editing style, one that stresses the connection between both scenes since their mood (suggested by the music) is still the same.

DIEGETIC SOUND
Any voice, musical passage, or sound effect presented as originating froma source within the film's world is diegetic

NON-DIEGETIC SOUND
If it originates outside the film (as most background music) then it is non-diegetic.

SOUND PERSPECTIVE
The sense of a sound's position in space, yielded by volume, timbre, pitch.

SYNCHRONOUS SOUND
Sound that is matched with the movements occuring in the images

ASYNCHRONOUS SOUND
Sound that isn’t matched with movements occurring in the images

SOUND EFFECTS
Sounds that are added to moving images during post-production stage in order to increase the impact and potential meaning of moments within a scene.

VOICEOVER When a voice, often that of a character in the moving images, is heard while we see an image of a space and time in which that character is not actually speaking. The voice over is often used to give a sense of a character's subjectivity or to narrate an event told in flashback

SOUND MOTIF
A recurring sound throughout moving images that is used to represent and idea, character or event.

DIRECT ADDRESS
A character directly addresses the audience, ‘breaking the fourth wall’

MODE OF ADDRESS
The way that characters talk, including accent and dialect
We have now started to include some audio in to our clip, even though it is not essential we would like to include it maybe to gain a few extra marks if we are fortunate.

A sound film is a motion picture with synchronized sound, or sound technologically coupled to image, as opposed to a silent film
 - Wiki answer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_film

I belive that our group is currently considering to make our own sound track off garage band to include, although we have included a loop track for the beggining of our clip.

Editing is the process of selecting and preparing written, visul, audible and film media used to convey information. The editing process can involve correction, condensation, organization, and other modifications performed with an intention of producing a correct, consistent, accurate and complete work - Wiki answer - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Editing

Types of editing

  • STRAIGHT CUT designed to be invisible so that shots join together without being noticeable creates REALISM
  • FADE IN/FADE OUT screens fades to black/white into or out of a shot
  • DISSOLVE where one image is slowly brought in beneath another one
  • WIPE CUT where one part of the screen moves to wipe across the other
  • JUMP CUT where the audiences attention is brought into focus on something very suddenly

  • CONTINUITY EDITING editing designed to be invisible to create realism
  • MONTAGE EDITING - is when narrative information is presented in a condensed fashion in a short segment

  • CROSS-CUTTING used to establish continuity - the camera will cut away from one action to another action. Because the shots occur one after another, cross-cutting is used to suggest simultaneity of action (ie the actions are happening at the same time)

  • MATCH ON ACTION - a cut that connects two (or more) different views of the same action at the same moment in the movement - by carefully matching the movement across the two (or more) shots, filmmakers make it seem that the motion continues uninterrupted.

Problems

We did run into a few problems, in one being that part of the camera stand was visable, it was essential that we get rid of the stand but to do this we had to crop the video. This was succesful.
Although if we had left this in we might of been liable for losing marks because its unprofessional, so you have to look in the background of your clips making sure there are no faults and unwanted subject/objects in the framing.

Another problem was that a clip we were keen to use had our sixthform bell in the audio, we had to get rid of this somehow because it was ruining our clip. To sort this problem out we had to trim that part hoping it wouldnt cut out some of our speech.

We found editing very hard even though we are still in the process of it, we know that there is alot to be done and details in the clip that play a major role towards the video. We ALL have had a go at editing our groups video just for the experience and to make sure everyone is taking part.
Currently with my continuity editing group we have accomplished the shooting for the movie, including sucessful camera angles. Presently we are now importing all the video clips for our processing. We are choosing and identifying the best clips that will work well together using different angles of the three camreras we used. When we imported all the clips we went through them to see how they were. However some of the clips had a dilemma so we were unable to use them. The clips that were good we inserted into our video clip timeline bar for triming and cropping of the clips.
